All of us at Fowlerville Community Schools (FCS) are excited to get the 2026-27 school year started! We hope this Back-to-School Information Hub will help ease the start of a new school year for families by having all of your back to school details in one spot!

Enrollment:
If you need to enroll a new student for the 2026-27 school year and live in the Fowlerville Community Schools district, you can complete the enrollment process on our website. If you have questions or would like assistance with enrollment, please contact Wendy Kottong at 517.223.6060 who is handling enrollment through August 7. Beginning August 10, you can contact the building office that your student would attend for enrollment assistance.
FCS is also enrolling students through the State of Michigan Schools of Choice program. We have openings in all grades (K-12). Applications will be accepted through August 28, 2026. Please note that a separate application will need to be completed for each student. Paper packets are also available for pickup at Fowlerville Community Schools Central Office located at 7677 W. Sharpe Road, Suite A, Fowlerville, MI.

Re-Verification of Student Information:
Beginning August 1, all parents/guardians are asked to log into your Mi Star Parent Connection account to complete the re-verification of student information process. The re-verification is essential to ensure that all student records - including emergency contacts, medical information and household details are accurate and up to date. This also ensures that you receive important communications from the district.

District-Wide Open House & Information Fair:
Fowlerville Community Schools will host a K-12 Open House on Wednesday, August 19 from 4:30-6:00 pm. This is a wonderful opportunity for students and families to visit their school building, meet staff and learn more about the upcoming school year. We plan to include some community partners and school-related groups as part of the back-to-school experience.
In addition to the school buildings being open, an Information Fair will take place in the south parking lot of Fowlerville Junior High from 4:30-7:00 pm (one hour longer than the building open houses). School and community partners will have tables/booths set up with a variety of information and resources that support and enrich our students' lives. Be sure to stop by!

FHS Freshman Orientation:
Orientation for incoming Fowlerville High School freshman will take place on Wednesday, August 19 at 3:30 pm at the Alverson Performing Arts Center. This will take place just prior to the district-wide Open House and Information Fair that will begin at 4:30 pm. We are excited to welcome the Class of 2030 to Fowlerville High School!

Backpacks for Kids Event
On Thursday, August 6, from 4:00-6:00 pm at Fowlerville High School, Livingston County families can pick up a backpack and school supplies for their student(s) as part of the 25th Annual Backpacks for Kids event hosted by the Livingston Educational Service Agency.
This is a drive-through event at the Main Entrance of Fowlerville High School, located at 700 N. Grand Avenue. Families will enter the Student Parking Lot between doors 39-42. Please note, the student must be present to receive a backpack, limit one per student.
In addition, Smiles on Wheels, a certified dental hygiene service will be on-site for incoming Kindergarten families who need of an oral health assessment. Parents will receive a postcard with results that will serve as proof of the completed requirement. This can also be completed in a drive through type setting, with the children right in their car seats.

Livingston County Health Department's - Ready, Set, School!
On Wednesday, August 15, 2026 from 10:00 am - 1:00 pm, the Livingston County Health Department will host Ready, Set, School! at the 242 Community Church in Brighton. Ready. Set, School! is an opportunity to help your child get ready for the classroom. They will be offering free vision and dental screenings, free bike helmets (while supplies last) and interactive games. Class/Schedule Information:
To access student class and schedule information for grades K-12, parents will first need to Re-Verify their account in the MiStar portal (this will be available beginning August 1). Classroom assignments, student schedules and locker information will be available in the Parent Portal on August 13. Reverification is required for each student if you have multiple students in the district.

Chromebook Pick Up:
Returning high school students kept their chromebooks at the conclusion of the 25-26 school year, so now is great time to make sure they can locate them. Students entering grades 6-8 will need to pick up their chromebook on August 19 from 4:00-6:00 pm in the Junior High Media Center. A date for incoming freshman students to pick up their chromebooks will be announced soon. If you are unable to pick up on this date, please contact your student's school building for assistance.

Log-in Issues:
The parents of newly enrolled students will receive an email once enrollment is complete with directions on accessing your MiStar portal account.
Parents will have access to their student's login information in the Parent Portal. Students can also ask any of their teachers or building office staff for assistance if they forget their log in.

Food Service:
All families are encouraged to complete the 2026-27 Education Benefits Form and return it to your student's school. It can also be completed in the MiStar Parent Portal electronically. The form collects information needed to ensure the school receives state and federal money for education programs.
On July 21, 2026, Governor Gretchen Whitmer signed the Michigan School Budget. The 2026-27 school budget includes free breakfast and lunch for all Michigan school students. Federal guidelines are very clear that students must have a complete meal for it to be free. Students selecting partial meals or snacks will be charged for them.
Upon enrollment, all students are assigned a cafeteria account. This is a debit account. Parents send in payment by check payable to Food & Nutrition Services which is deposited into the student's account. When a student makes a cafeteria purchase, the amount is automatically deducted from the account.
Once school begins, lunch menus can be found on the Fowlerville Food & Nutrition Services Facebook page or on each building webpage under "Lunch Menus."

Transportation:
Busing information for the 26-27 school year will be available to families beginning August 13 on the MiStar Portal, if you have completed the reverification process. This will include estimated pick up and drop off times. Please be at your designated bus stop 10 minutes before the scheduled arrival of the bus. If your student has been provided transportation in the past, they will be all set in regards to transportation as part of the re-verification process. If corrections need to be made, please reach out to the Transportation Department as quickly as possible by calling 517.223.6122.
Our Transportation Team is dedicated to ensuring the safe and efficient transportation of students to and from school. We take pride in providing timely and courteous service, fostering a positive experience for students and parents. Families are encouraged to review the Transportation Student Handbook with their student(s) to protect their busing privileges. Before School & After School Care
If you have signed your student(s) up for before or after school care at Little Glad Early Childhood Center, we want to share the following details with you.
Before Care: Families can drop children off starting at 7:00 am and need to be in the building by 8:20 am. Students will be offered breakfast at Little Glad in the morning. Staff members will walk students over to the the elementary buildings and wait with them until students can enter.
After Care: Staff members will pick students up at their elementary buildings and walk them back to Little Glad Early Childhood. Students will receive a snack upon arrival. Students must be picked up no later than 5:30 pm.
Before & After Care is currently full, however, we are likely to open up another school age classroom. Families are encouraged to call and be added to the waitlist if they think they may need before/after care. Contact Emily at 517.223.6493. Families can schedule Monday through Friday, Tuesday/Thursday or Monday/Wednesday/Friday.

School Supplies:
Families often have questions about what school supplies their student will need for a new school year. The Principals from each of our school buildings have shared the below information regarding recommended school supplies:
Fowlerville Elementary School:
Kindergarten: Backpack, lunchbox and spill proof water bottle (all labeled with name), bag of extra clothes, 4 glue sticks, 1 pack of pencils, 1 child size scissor; First Grade: Regular size plastic pencil box, child-size scissors, 1 sturdy folder, 2 packs of 24-crayons, 2 boxes of 10-count markers, 1 sprial notebook, glue sticks, 2-pack of black sharpie markers, 1 pair of headphones (not wireless or ear-buds); Second Grade: 1 leak-proof water bottle (labeled), 1 pair of corded headphones, 2 boxes of 24-count crayons (not labeled, these are community supplies).
All classrooms would be appreciative of any donations of tissue, hand sanitizer and disinfecting Clorox or Lysol wipes.
Natalie Kreeger Elementary School: Teachers will communicate directly with families about any needed supplies.
Fowlerville Junior High School: Teachers will send an email to families on their rosters with any suggested items.
Fowlerville High School: Suggested items include pens (blue, black and red for editing), pencils, highlighters, colored pencils, dry erase markers, spiral notebooks (3-5), a composition notebook, pocket folders (4-6), 1.5" or 2" 3-ring binder, loose-leaf notebook paper (college ruled) and index cards.

Junior High/High School Fall Athletics:
Fowlerville Junior High offers the following athletic opportunities in the fall: Volleyball and Cross Country. Practices for both sports will start the first week of school. To participate in practices, students will need to have an MHSAA sports physical on file in Final Forms or to the Athletic Office prior to starting practice.
Fowlerville High School fall sports practices will start on Monday, August 10. Again, all student athletes must have an MHSAA sports physical in Final Forms or in the Athletic Office before they can practice. Fall high school sports include football, soccer, volleyball, cross country, girls golf and sideline cheer.
