Band/Choir
Welcome to the online home of the Gladiator band program. We hope you find the site informative and enjoy getting to know the bands at Fowlerville Schools.
Spring is here! Check back frequently for information on our upcoming concerts, MMEA clinic, and auditions for next year's band classes.
We are looking for parent volunteers for the upcoming MMEA Band Clinic. It is an honor to be a host school for the clinic, as it is a chance to show off the Alverson Center for the Performing Arts and our excellent facilities. The festival involves schools from the surrounding area visiting our campus and performing for professional musicians who give feedback in real time.
We are looking for a few parent volunteers to facilitate. If you are interested in either selling concessions and/or announcing ensembles and providing time checks, please let me know! While the festival will be taking place from 8-4:15 on Friday, March 6th and from 8-2 P.M. on Saturday, March 7th, you do not need to volunteer to cover the full day. A few hours would still go a long way toward making this experience more enjoyable for all participants!
Fundraising update:
The biggest update is that the band program is kicking off a fundraiser from a company called “Snap”! If your student is in band they should have brought home a flyer with a QR code and some instructions on setting up their account.
Q: What is a “Snap” fundraiser?
A: It’s so easy, it’s a Snap! Witty response aside, a Snap fundraiser is much like a pledge campaign. Participants are asked to fill in twenty valid email addresses. These can be aunts, uncles, co-workers, ect. Any trusted adult who may be willing to support the band would do! The program will then send out an email blast asking for donations to the program. That’s it! No merchandise to deliver, no inventory to manage, just an honest request for funds to support the program.
Q: Why are we fundraising?
A: The program has dedicated a lot of funds to instrument repair this year. This is a normal part of a band program’s cycle, every 10 years or so it feels like all the corks are ripping, the pads are falling out, and for some reason all the spit valves are failing (no one likes a leaky spit valve). The money we raise will go into refilling our band booster account to allow for continued repair for instruments that students are using. Any excess could be used to support travel/trips in future years.
