James Fitzgerald, Assistant Principal
I am looking forward to another great school year as the Assistant Principal here at Fowlerville Junior High School. It is an honor to be part of such a great community that is dedicated to supporting our students, helping them succeed, and preparing them for the future. I believe that all students can be successful and I will continue to work extremely hard to help them reach their full potential.
Prior to coming to Fowlerville, I taught for 9 years in the Wayne Westland Community School District and 1 Year in the Garden City School District. I taught a variety of science and physical education courses at both the high school and middle school levels. I earned my Bachelor's Degree from Wayne State University in Secondary Education (Science and Physical Education) in 2005. I also earned my Master of Arts in Educational Leadership from The University of Michigan Dearborn in 2010. I continue to grow as an educator and strive to be a lifelong learner in order to best support teachers and students.
I am also a huge fan of athletics and have coached high school sports for 16 years (including basketball, track & field, cross country, and golf). Some of my best experiences in education have come from coaching and helping student athletes reach their goals. I believe that extracurricular activities can greatly enhance a child's learning experience and teach valuable life lessons. I still enjoy playing basketball, softball, golf, and running.
My favorite thing to do is spend time with my family. My beautiful wife of 11 years, Teresa, and I have three wonderful children. My daughter Kailey (9), son Jordan (7), and son Andrew (1) keep us very busy with all of their school and after school activities. Kailey and Jordan both love school, learning, and playing a variety of sports/activities. Kailey's favorite activity is dance and Jordan's favorite is baseball. I love coaching their team's on the weekend and watching them grow. Baby Andrew has been an amazing addition to our family, and loves laughing and chasing after his brother and sister. Over the summer he learned to stand up and walk while holding on to the furniture.
My family and I love Fowlerville Junior High School. I believe that this is an excellent place to learn, and I will always strive to support a safe and positive learning environment for our students. I look forward to working with our staff, parents, and students this year to provide a great learning experience for all. Feel free to contact me via email or phone if you need anything. Thank you.
